About Kavyaraag
Our Vision
Preserving and revitalising the rich oral tradition of Indian poetry and music and creating the biggest movement of poetry led music. By setting the works of legendary poets such as Meera, Kabir, Amir Khusrau, Nirala, Mahadevi Verma, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar' to music, the project seeks to reintroduce these masterpieces into everyday cultural experiences.
Our Story
The Beginning
Started off as the 'Music and Poetry Project about 8 years ago through a crowdfunding campaign, with the objective of creating a bridge between great Hindi poetry and contemporary music for young listeners- Something that inspires them and open windows of imagination and beauty in their minds.
Live concerts
- We are proud to have received numerous awards for our work in the live music industry.The Clef Music Awards, Radio City Freedom Awards to name a few.
- As a live music act, Kavyaraag has performed at the literature festivals/music festival across and beyond India and in schools, college fests.
- The act has been well received at The Nehru Centre(London), Richmix, Oxford University and Asia House, India Habitat Centre, NDMC-Central park concerts, Spoken Fest, Sahitya Aajtak- Delhi, Worli Festival, Kumbh Mela- Prayagraj, ICCR Mumbai, Levi's Lounge, Jaipur Lit Fest, Kala Ghoda Festival, Khusrau Kabir Festival Mumbai ,Kabira Festival, Kabir Yatra, India by the Bay(Hong Kong) along with other corporate and public events.
The way forward
- The goal is to develop the create the largest repertoire/pool of poetry based music in India under ‘Kavyaraag Heritage’
- By addition of 100+ selected poems that are rare and valuable from the point of view of their theme/ wisdom/bhaav(emotional depth) or poetic approach .The select works will be from Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu poetry only for the first 3 years and more languages will get added later on.
- 2) Kavyaraag for children- Youtube platform of imaginative, intelligent yet fun poetry-based songs that inspire children and young adults – with a selection of 25-30 poems to begin with in the first phase.
- ) Taking the music and poetry of Kavyaraag online across all digital streaming platforms and on ground through live concerts, school/college programs – Inspire them, make them experience the richness of our literary masterpieces in a new musical form
