Started off in 2018 through a crowd funding campaign by Chinmayi Tripathi - with the objective of preserving literature- re-imagining the rich, inspiring Indian poetry by combining it with contemporary music that is accessible for young listeners. Over the last few years, the project has grown multi-folds with numerous songs, videos and live performances across the world with the live band headed by Chinmayi Tripathi and Joell Mukherjii – the singer composer- music producer duo that weaves together timeless classics of Indian literature and contemporary music.

At the Music and Poetry Project, we strive to create a bridge between diverse forms of poetry and contemporary music that can reach out and inspire listeners.
The music comprises of poems by Mahadevi Verma, Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala', Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar', Harivansh Rai 'Bachchan', Shivmangal Singh 'Suman',Dharmavir Bharti and timeless classics by Bulle Shah, Meera, Kabir, Amir Khusrau and new age poetry by the stalwarts such as Anamika, Vinod Kumar Shukla, Naresh Saxena, Sarveshwar Dayal Saxena to name a few.

Over the last few years they have travelled and performed around the world and their live performances have been received well at the venues like - The Nehru Centre(London), Richmix, Oxford University and Asia House, India Habitat Centre, NDMC-Central park concerts, Spoken Fest, Sahitya Aajtak- Delhi, Worli Festival, Kumbh Mela- Prayagraj, ICCR Mumbai, Levi's Lounge, Jaipur Lit Fest,Kala Ghoda Festival, Khusrau Kabir Festival Mumbai ,Kabira Festival,Kabir Yatra, India by the Bay(Hong Kong) along with other corporate and public events.
MORE ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Chinmayi Tripathi
Singer songwriter and poet.Trained in Hindustani Classical music, Chinmayi an MBA and has worked in media for over 8 years. She is the Co-founder of Songdew Media - a platform that promotes Independent music through its website, app and TV channel.Chinmayi has released 3 music albums with Times music and Worldwide records, she has composed, written and sung songs for films and web-shows such as Siya, Zoya Factor, Janta Band, Jail Diaries and has released two books of poems of her own with Vani Publications. For her contribution to music and poetry, Chinmayi has received ‘Vishnu Prabhakar Puruskar’.She has been nominated for British Youth Awards 2012 and RadioCity Freedom Awards 2019 and she has received Clef Music Award in 2022.
Joell Mukherjii
Singer- composer- music producer and Co Founder- MAPStudio foundation and Rolling music production.
Hailing from a family of veteran musicians in Kolkata, Joell is a versatile composer who has trained western classical music as well as Indian music. He is a multi- instrumentalist and is known for soulful melodies and experimental soundscapes. Joell has composed over 300+ Ad jingles over the last 5 years along with independent songs and tracks for films and web series and his own series of independent songs streaming on Spotify and other platforms. For his independent songs, Joell has received the ‘Clef Music Award’ in 2022.
